Manna and Quail flowed into the Detroit music scene like a waterbed on wheels. Their futuristic sound often reminds one of a deep-sea adventure or of blissfully dancing on the sun. The six that make up Manna and Quail thoroughly enjoy bringing you their omni-directional musical delight. With only blue skies ahead, Manna and Quail are perched on your windowsill… but, only when appropriate. Backwards writes Quail and Manna

Recently the band has been touring as a two piece, and this is an excerpt from their myspace explains it all:
“Manna and Quail is Steve Saputo, Chad Nicefield, and three other members whose identities must remain anonymous. The band, though born in the present, was summoned through emerging technology to the future, where they are mankind’s only hope… The story begins 100 years in the future, where an enterprising scientist (Dr. Phitzwilliam Wischusen) combines human DNA with machinery, thus inventing a RoPHot super-race. Though themselves partially human, the RoPHots rapidly discerned their biological superiority to mankind. Fearing that the weaker race would nonetheless squander natural resources vital to their survival, the RoPHots rose against and enslaved humanity. Mortified by the consequences of his innovation, Dr. Wischusen sets off on a desperate search to quell the RoPHots’ rage. The only antidote, he discovers, is live music from Manna and Quail, trapped in a remote past.

They played Howell, MI, this past Saturday. The performance was amazing. Look for these guys to take off as a two-piece. It changed the way I look at live music. It was amazing.

I really liked seeing these guys play last night before Jimmy Eat World. I got to meet them after the show and they were really cool guys. Got three of their signatures on a CD of theirs.
