• It's Absolutely Divine! (A Good Day Today)

    15 Jul 2014, 17:39 by Brand-X279

I'm spending most of my day today reconnecting with some of my music from a ways back. I've been a huge fan of µ-Ziq (Mike Paradinas) & Vapourspace (Mike Gage) since 1993, and I haven't listen to my µ-Ziq or Vapourspace albums for a while. Having a library of more than 30,000 tracks you kinda forget what you have over time. I bought all of his albums when they first came out back in the 90's.

His music always allowed me to escape reality. If my dreams had a soundtrack, it would be all of µ-Ziq's & Vapourspace albums (throw in some early 80's new age & jazz music some early 90's ambient electronic & ambient techno & top 4 for 2000's: Tycho, Hammock, Eluvium & Manual) in constant rotation. That's what is so divine, I haven't had a nightmare since I was 9 years old, all of my dreams since have always been very vivid, lucid, beautiful & serene. My life so far has been like a 26 year long, 24/7 Outer Body Experience with some freakin' awesome Background Music.

  • Rough Guide to Canadian Electronic Music

    17 Oct 2011, 00:10 by AlanRanta
CBC Electronic is still a fledgling branch of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. I cannot stress enough how important support by this country's electronic music aficionados is to the success of this thing. Far too many Canadian electronic musicians are forced to leave the country for Europe and the UK just to make a go of it.

In order to stop this brain-drain, it's up to us to keep pushing the scene in Canada, to make it viable for artists to get the work and recognition they deserve at home. To this aim, I have compiled a 'work in progress' list of all the best electronic leaning artists Canada has yet seen. Enjoy!

FYI: The list is ordered first name first, for sake of ease, and any suggestions would be greatly appreciated (just comment or PM me).

  • Hotcakes' Albums of 2010

    26 Dec 2010, 15:49 by Simjob

    Full article

2010 is all but up and what a year of music it’s been. The bakers at Hotcakes have been putting their collective toques together and these are our favourite albums of the year:
    1. Beach HouseTeen Dream
This album came top by a country mile, which just goes to show how exceptional it is. Regardless of your tastes and genres, it is so hard to not be bowled over by all ten songs, right from the first riff of Zebra all the way to the looping chorus of Take Care. The duo have been at the forefront of all lists and on the lips of all bloggers since they released Teen Dream all the way back in January this year.

Often, an album that gets released in January loses its freshness and appeal by the time decision time comes around in December. It takes something really special to maintain a love for an album through twelve months, through all seasons, through all moods. …

  • [Review] Caribou – Swim

    5 Apr 2010, 10:19 by Bln-Fm

Sogar Rentiere nennt man Caribou.

Manitoba was great - a welcome re-introduction. So after following suit with Four Tet's Rounds, it was only logical to go with Caribou, the name Manitoba had to adopt after legal threatennings of a ludicrous nature.

Milk Of Human Kindness is even better than I remember! At 12pm, a bloke came round to inspect the roof for insulation and the album was coming to an end. Now the guy was hot and I wanted him to be impressed by this mad crazy instrumental electronica which I was SO into the groove with, the album finished whilst he was around, so instead of changing to something else out there, I hit the restart button and happilly listened to the whole thing again. And it was great.

Now to sit down and do some am:X-C work and listen to The Flaming Lips The Soft Bulletin.
