I wouldn't say it's lifeless - uncomfortable is maybe a better word, but therein lies this album's power...

I don't get why people dislike it so much? Love at first listen :)

When "From despair to where" ends and "La tristesse durera" begins. The best moment ever.

the b-sides from this album are all excellent, and switching those with some of the weaker tracks probably would have made a better album.

Yes, this record is underrated. It's here fantastic songs live "From Despair To Where", "Life Becoming A Landslide", "Drug Drug Druggy" or "Roses In The Hospital". Howgh!

Bloated production and silly as hell but still a magnificent record. I'd even go as far to say that it's the best Richey era album and the bloated production really works for it and gives way to some lovely musical details (i.e. the bongos in "Roses In The Hospital", the snooker ball in frying pan during "Nostalgic Pushead", the filtered solo in the title track, more bongos in "From Despair to Where" and not to mention some fantastic usage of strings). The lyrics are mostly great too.

I don't understand why the band don't like this! Tis a superb album, no filler but maybe beaten by the 2 albums it sits between..even though Generation Terrorist has some filler in it, it is a better album overall.... Still this is awesome and totally under rated.
