Makeshift Spurs were born when Freya Marshall and Leo Gaskell - two musicians with very different influences and band experiences - met in NYC.
Leo's work in an Irish folk band in Canada and Freya's in ramshackle punk trios in Australia appeared to meet with astounding compatibility.
They hauled their stuff (including a skillfully bound drum kit tied to Leo's back) down to an old opera house in Bushwick, Brooklyn, and in a sweltering room carved a set out of an aging blues and rock'n'roll foundation that managed to surprise them as it began to take on a life of its own.
