Biography
Multiple artists share the name Mainland.
1. Mainland began with four New York City transplants – by way of California, New Mexico, and Upstate New York – met each other at rooftop parties in the summer of 2010. They quickly formed a following around Manhattan and Brooklyn, ultimately getting profiled in and featured on the cover of the L Magazine’s noted “8 Bands You Need to Hear” issue, an annual cull of must-hear groups. Rolling Stone, French Elle, Consequence of Sound, and the Deli Magazine have all since touted the group.
Mainland recently finished recording their debut album with Luke David, who produced Topf’s previous group, the Vox Jaguars. The band labored on it throughout summer from the 100-year-old Shepard Hall in Harlem and their studio (dubbed the “Bunker”), a cavernous underground grotto at the foot of the Manhattan Bridge. The product is a bold rock record with a distinct voice that stands apart from Brooklyn’s constant churn of new bands. The debut record is filled with Mainland’s tight & unique song structures, West Coast garage attitude, rangy poppy guitar riffs, and driving subway anthems that take listeners to the warm space between ache and pleasure.
Jordan Topf - vocals and guitar
Corey Mullee - guitar
Alex Pitta - bass
Dylan Longstreet - drums
2. Mainland is a singer/songwriter- or alternative band from Basel, Switzerland.
