Biography
MagiTek is a musical project that has grown over the years into what could be best simply considered an electronica/nerdcore group. They currently rock occasional shows around central Florida, while spreading the sound of their most recent album: “Sample It. Loop It. Fuck It. Eat It.”
A bit of history:
In the early 00’s the founding duo of Quartz Relic and Thugmasta J crudely produced a variety of songs, which were mostly focused on geeky subject matters with breakbeat, house, synth rock, and video game influenced music. Their body of work began to take on a series of concepts and inside mythos, which progressed along with the sound of the group. In 2006 their album “Distorting Reality For Better Perception” was completed, with contributions by Shamus Oddish and Mathaeis. This was the cumulative result of MagiTek’s roots, still very rough but quite experimental, and ultimately showing a dynamic range and future for the music.
Over the next year they became heavily involved with the steadily rising nerdcore scene, refining the style of the group to include more hip hop elements, as well as live performances. From late 2006 to the present day they have been working on a variety of individual tracks and other collaborations with friends and other artists. Some have appeared on Rhyme Torrents releases, as well as compilations like GM4A/Scrub Club’s Here Comes a New Challenger II Turbo.
