• Night Falls Over Kortedala

Jens Lekman is seriously rad. Hes without a doubt one of the most charming artists that I know of. His lovely, charming and heartwarming lyrics and sampling. From the moment I heard his You Are The Light (by which I travel into this and that) I knew I was onto something special. Have not been dissapointed since that moment.

His new album is coming at us. I've been enjoying his Friday Night at the Drive-In Bingo immensly the last weeks. Oh yeah.

According to a quote from Jens on the Secretly Canadian website, the album is a sort of love letter/kiss-off to the Kortedala neighborhood of Gothenburg that he calls home:

"What a depressing suburban hell this place is. Everyone goes to bed at nine, after that you can't see one single window lit up. You can walk for hours without meeting one single person. I used to like that, 'cause it meant I could go for endless walks and pretend the world was my own and I was the only one in it. But after a while I found out the hard way that there were others who couldn't sleep at night.

Venues, bands, and resources in Portland

Montreal is a big city, but it's also incredibly manageable, considering how much it has to offer. People love this city because it's easy. It's easy to move here, buy a bike and get around, find whatever you need to live, and meet whomever you need to meet. If you go off exploring, you won't find yourself in some industrial wasteland, lost and disappointed. (And if you do, chances are it's an interesting industrial wasteland, where the crazy loft parties aren't hard to find.)

It's more likely that you'll stumble onto a great band, or a great restaurant, or a great coffee shop, and meet some lovely people. Montreal is the second-largest French-speaking city in the world...
