Amazingly, this track is only two voices singing all the parts - an impressive achievement! Ad Te Clamamus reflects a style of music prevalent in Maeran’s work and the vocal constructions are similar to those used in other tracks such as Puer Natus, Christus Natus Est, Christus Vincit and Today is born Emmanuel. All such tracks demonstrate an impressive ability to construct vocal arrangements drawing upon a style of music often compared with Gregorian Chant although the folk-type melodies incorporated in the compositions provide a unique sound. It is not easy to identify other musicians who produce a similar sound although Magna Carta spring to mind. The blend of voices is impressive and very appealing.
