About this album

The 12th studio album from Madonna, 2012’s MDNA features all new material from the pop icon with production from French electronic musician and DJ, Martin Solveig, as well as longtime Madonna collaborator William Orbit. The album presented Madonna with her 12th U.K. number 1, the most by any artist. The album also topped the world charts. Coming on the heels of Madonna’s half-time performance at the 2012 Superbowl, the album’s title is an abbreviation of her name. Included are the singles “Give Me All Your Luvin’” featuring Nicki Minaj and M. I.A. as well as “Girl Gone Wild” and “Turn Up The Radio”. According to the I’m Addicted Songfacts, it was M.I.A., who originally suggested the album title.

I think the reason that this album doesn't really outshine the rest is because it doesn't really have an overall 'theme'. It just seems like a collection of catchy electronic dance songs. [6]

[3] I agree with that one. I love the album, it's catchy. But her other albums felt more like a "body of work" than this one . [2] yeah, still love it

The beginning of the album (Girl Gone Wild, Gang Bang, I'm Addicted) and the end (Masterpiece, Falling Free) are great, the rest is terrible. [3]

I think the reason that this album doesn't really outshine the rest is because it doesn't really have an overall 'theme'. It just seems like a collection of catchy electronic dance songs. When you think of 'Like A Prayer' you think Brown Hair, Crucifix's etc. When you think of 'Confessions' you think leotards, disco balls etc. It's hard to distinguish this as an 'era' because it just seems like she just threw together some songs that have a 'modern' feel, and her look was very prominent. The album is far too vague and lacks consistency, in my opinion. 'Gang Bang', 'Masterpiece' and 'Falling Free' are the only highlights for me.
