  • Waxing Rhapsodic - Madame Blavatsky Overdrive

Here's a great band that I'm full of love for: Madame Blavatsky Overdrive (a/k/a Madame Blavatski Overdrive). (And how awesome of a band name is Madame Blavatsky Overdrive, anyway?)

You can download their entire album (for free!) over at the main MBO site, which you really should do if you're up for a musical adventure. The album's definitely the work of real music lovers and the production is as professional as it gets.

If you don't get too scared by the first minute of Idiot Jones Will Have His Way, the rest of the song is quintessential Prog Pop (as they've termed their music in their bio). Personally, I like the thrill of the first minute ;)

Occam's Razor is RAAAWWWK, but Madame Blavatsky Overdrive is about much, much more than just kickin' your ass with the RAAAAAAAAWWWWWWK. Take some time to listen to Kicking the Can, which is a wonderfully creepy, lovely song.

Overall, the album has this deliciously sinister undertone in some moments and is simply beyond gorgeous in others and it's quite exquisite really…
