Both before and after this point, Machine Head were and remain awesome. At this unfortunate juncture though, they were banging out derivative Nu-Metal crap that even shit bands like Coal Chamber would think twice about releasing. Fucking awful basically, good thing they soon saw the light and went back to some proper Metal

Burning Red is just as good musically as all the other albums they have made. I would personally rather hear some varied sound styles over a 20 year career then every album sounding the same. So more power to them for having the balls to test the waters and new sounds on every album.
