About the slaying of Griogal MacGregor, in 1570 AD, from the PoV of his beloved wife, and sung, as many older lays are, as both lament and lullabye. The age of the piece hasn't been conclusively established but the structure of the rhyme and meter are of an older style than the first collections of the piece, which date to the folk song collectors of the early 1800s.

This track has special significance to me as it was playing on an MP3 player as my dog passed over to the spirit world in the woods on a starry clear November night. It is a beautiful lament by a woman for her husband.
