Biography

Quoted from Lynne Jordan's MySpace page.

She has been called a cross between Etta James and Broadway with touches of Aretha Franklin, Bette Midler, Janis Joplin and Dinah Washington, blended together and then belted out to showcase her own unique style.

Over the past decade this versatile, vivacious vocalist has sung everything from Bach to rock – from big band and blues to gospel. Jordan's work as a backup singer with alternative rockers Urge Overkill put her in the national spotlight, as did her harmonizing with singer/songwriter and actor Tom Waits. House of Blues Records tapped Lynne's talent for its all-star tribute CD, "Songs of Janis Joplin: Blues Down Deep", which includes Etta James, Taj Mahal, Koko Taylor, Syl Johnson, Lonnie Brooks, Otis Clay, Tracey Nelson and Lou Ann Barton. Delmark Records' hit CD, "Women of Blue Chicago," features Jordan belting two blues classics. Blue Chicago Records' blues women CD, "Red Hot Mamas", showcases Lynne covering Janis Joplin and Ruth Brown.
