Biography

Songwriter, Visual Artist and DIY Enthusiast, Lupen Crook blends beauty and brutal truth in his own inimitable style. Edgy and emotive, at times downright peculiar and provocative, with a dark, observational wit. Lupen Crook also produces a wide variety of raw and expressionistic artworks, including paintings, collage and illustrations. He has released many albums and EP’s, independently via his own label Beast Reality, or on UK indie labels, more often than not featuring packaging that has been hand-crafted and personalised by Lupen Crook himself.

Fuck, Lupen is way too overlooked. Hopefully one day he'll get the exposure he deserves.

Hi Hoagzter, I'm part of the Crooked Family team. Sorry for the belated reply, have only just dropped in here. Glad you enjoyed Latitude - it was a great weekend! We're working on Spotify. We've had a conversation with the band's previous label about the back catalogue. The new album (Oct 4) will be on Spotify. One of last year's self-release EPs has gone up there since you left your comment and we'd love to make the other two EPs available too (so many jobs, so little time... but they are both currently available as free downloads from www.lupencrook.com). Thanks for your support.

I didn't hear of these guys/guy (is it a band or one person mainly) until I saw them at Latitude, they had an amazing mad style of playing, changing constantly but with enough melody and good riffs to hold it together. How come so little of their stuff is released on Spotify, they seem to have a decent catalogue of songs.

So, the project is now Lupen Crook again. I absolutely adore the new versions of the tracks-- "The Pirate's Wife" and "Dorothy Deserves" especially. "Scissor Kick" is great, but I think I might have to get used to it. It's much more rock than it used to be, and I sort of feel it loses its edge that way? I mean, a furious folk song says more to me than a furious rock song. The vocals are fantastic and much better, though. Not sure how I feel about the album title.

I didn't realise Lupen Crook was so obscure/ barely listened to. I found his CD in HMV in Shrewsbury. I think he's ace, Halloween is proper amazing.

I don't know what her point is, I think she's trying to be clever but the point of her ramble is pretty incoheirent.

Scissor Kick is incredible. If they had the marketing budget of Kings of Leon it'd be number 1 for sure.
