Biography

Luna Mortis was a 5-piece, female-fronted metal band from Madison, WI. They combined elements from multiple genres of metal to create a sound that was truly their own. The final lineup formed in 2006 and their debut LP, “Way of the Blade,” released under the original band name “The Ottoman Empire,” received critical acclaim in both domestic and international publications. In 2008, Luna Mortis released their EP “The Answer: Does Not Exist” also under the previous band name, “The Ottoman Empire”. With the release of “Way of the Blade,” and “The Answer: Does Not Exist”, Luna Mortis became touring veterans of their native midwest and were one of the most requested metal festival acts in the region. The band also created a devoted international fan base via a strong online presence, with consistent overseas album sales. Luna Mortis were versatile, high-caliber performers, bringing to the stage the accuracy of their recordings along with high energy and intensity, which made them a powerful act. Although the band decided to change their name from “The Ottoman Empire” to Luna Mortis in 2008, they retained the same lineup and the same technical metal sound.

On Feburary 15, 2010 it was announced that the band will disband, with each of the members going their separate ways. All of their tour dates with Primal Fear have been canceled. The band will play a final show in Madison, WI at an unannounced time.

    i bought this cd "The Absence" LIKE 3 years ago and it is still one of the best albums ive heard in a wile! and every time i play it for someone who has never heard of Luna Mortis they all say FUCKYEAH THESE GUYS FUKN ROCK!!
