  • powerful music!

  • You're generally correct in your harsh analysis of Clockwork Orange. However I would categorize it as a brilliant and artistic adult oriented film. If kept in context and away from children it can be fully appreciated as a great film. It was POP culture at the time it came out. Today's generation would be confused by it. Now with that out of the way we can fully enjoy one of the greatest classical composers of all time.
  • A Clockwork Orange The adventures of a young man whose principal interests are rape, ultra-violence and Beethoven.
  • The first movement of this symphony is the single greatest piece of music ever written. I think it was Stravinsky who said that nothing will ever top it, and he's been right so far. It's astounding all the way through, but the beginning, the crescendo into tutti in the middle (with the rolling timpani), and *especially* the ending (oh my God, the ending!!) are just inexplicably profound. I particularly like the Christopher Hogwood/AAM rendition, which is played at the *correct* tempo, not the usual slower meter that saps the music of a lot of its incredible energy and urgency.
  • Was supposed to stop after 14 min. but it keeps on going. :)
