You talk about the junk you do
Like you talk about climbing trees
You live the life of a little kid
With bruises on your knees

you might have a beautiful MOUTH, you might have beautiful EYES, but sooner or LATER it all goes SOUTH, you tell too many LIES.

i'm quite riveted. i'm very surprised by its mix, the youtube video somewhat misled me (it sounds a bit more cruel/bitter there, maybe because the audience went crazy on the chorus). this is a wonderfully good-spirited song (more similar to "sweet side" than some other bad boy songs, say, "metal firecracker"), but it's not as picaresque and humorous as "jailhouse tears" (a song i don't really love). lucinda said buttercup is for the same person she wrote JT, and you can see that both feature a somewhat "empowered" way of looking at things. "good luck finding your buttercup" is not exactly a "fuck you", as a commentator on the youtube video said, it's more like "take care", precisely because of what comes before: "now you want somebody to be your buttercup". you get the idea she's just remembering things instead of being pissed off by them.
