Ask Heidi Mason (vocals, guitar) about when she first met Nolan Greene (drums) and she might tell you it was at a party in San Diego the night before Halloween. And for some reason she immediately trusted him.

They were each in a different band. The next night, Nolan and his bassist went to watch Heidi and her bandmate perform in Ocean Beach. A couple nights later, Heidi went to watch Nolan’s band at House of Blues. Nolan and his bassist offered to be backing musicians in Heidi’s ‘band’, a duo consisting of lead vocals, backup vocals, and a single guitar. (Heidi had actually been impressed by Nolan’s on and off stage presence and knew she wanted him to be her drummer.) However, she moved…to North Carolina.

She didn’t stay for long. Less than five months later she was back in San Diego playing again with her on/off bandmate of six years. That Christmas, however, her bandmate got engaged and quit the following day as lead singer. Four days later, Heidi ran into Nolan outside a rehearsal studio where she was auditioning a drummer. Nolan told her that his bandmates had also gone their separate ways.

Two weeks later they joined artistic/economic forces as Love Mason. Heidi had felt a solid musical connection with Nolan the one time they had jammed, by now almost a year ago. Nolan knew a young but experienced bassist from his other projects named Tim McNalley; the 2 already had good chemistry. Not too surprising then that the 3 had the potential to set in motion something great.
