Biography
1. Louna was formed by Vit (bass) and Lou (vocals) of Moscow’s leading alternative act Tracktor Bowling to pursue wider musical ideas that were not fit within their original band. For this they have recruted guitarists Rouben Kazariyan (Southwake), Sergey Ponkratiev (ENS Cogitans) and young but talented drummer Pilot (Wayzz, Pony Clouds). After 9 month of musical creative research, hard work and intense rehearsing the ne band presented a three song selftitled internet-EP and played its first succesful gig at one of Moscows famous venue - Tochka revealing even more songs reflecting further musical direction the band.
Trying to escape any particular genre boundaries Louna’s music extends beyond the regular alternative rock cliché incorporating a variety of different styles into their songs. Along with obvious nu-metal, alternative and post-grunge influences you will find touches of eastern ethnic music and definite hardcore and even punk rythmics in Louna’s music.
Lyrically the band stands in a non-compromise critical position digging into vexed problems of modern society . “We want our music to charge the audience with energy but what is more important: We want our audience to start to think. And we definitely encourage and provoke people to do so”, - say the musicians, - “we are quite sure there is a vacancy for a band like this on our local scene and we are there to change the way things are”.
2.Louna is a performing poet/songwriter. Her lyrics tell about our lives in visual revolution with a taste of sadness. At the moment she performs mainly by herself with echoing, effectic; acoustic guitar. Sometimes different musicians play with her. She has been recording songs with Ville Leinonen, but mainly she makes music by herself. Nowadays she has her own homestudio and is writing songs for her first album. Louna aims in her music at truthfulness ja emotionalism; Everything must be justified. She’s a sister of Joonas Widenius, well-known flamenco guitarist in Lapland.
