Louis Jordan is new to me (about three months ago). He has some of the greatest tunes I've ever heard. I looked him up on after hearing "Ain't nobody here but us chickens" while playing the video game "LA Noire". Thanks game!

R&B crossovers were rare in 1945, but this record made it to #6 on the pop charts as well as being a #1 R&B hit. And like the white cover versions of black hits common in 1954-55, a cover version of "Caldonia" by Woody Herman hit #2 on the pop charts in 1945.

Ein gutes Stück Jazz und es fordert auf zum Tanz, jedenfalls im letzten Teil.

Not the classic version of Caldonia, but gives an idea of Jordan's live presence. He was a serious player in the pre-history of Rock and Roll. Don't know when this track was laid down, but this would have been his style in the 1947/8 period (I'm guessing) when mainstream popular music was much more sedate.
