Biography

Los Kung-Fu Monkeys are a six-piece Punk & Ska Band out of Tijuana. Yes Tijuana! that infamous border town known for it’s zebra-like spray painted donkeys, velvet paintings and a revolution. No not the street filled with clubs for tourist and hookers but the musical and art revolutionary movement now taking place in Tijuana. A movement that was spearheaded by the world reknown and now defunct Tijuana No! which is now lead by the techno-banda DJ’s the Nortec Collective, the eclectic Julietta Venegas and Los Kung-Fu Monkeys. Everyone thinks of Tijuana as a good place to party but that’s not what Tijuana is really about, Not by a long shot, you don’t need to look deep to find a gem like Los Kung-Fu Monkeys.

Drawing inspiration from US Punk & Ska bands such as the Voodoo Glow Skulls, Rancid, Suicide Machines, Sick Of It All, The clash, 7 Seconds, Bad Religion, the ramones plus others and from the surroundings of their border town, Los Kung-Fu Monkeys have created a sound all their own which boast dual singers, killer bass riffs and great keyboard harmonies. Los KFM as they are also known consist of Bernie & Paco on vocals, brothers Hassan (bass) & Tarek (guitar), Hecky on drums, Esteban on keyboards .

The band has been a familiar face in the TJ punk scene ever since they started back in 1998, but since their first release “Rebuilding The World” dropped in 2001 the band has played at some of the most important venues in the U.S.A.
