About this album

We Are Beautiful, We Are Doomed is the second full-length record from Cardiff-based seven-piece Los Campesinos!. It was released in the UK on 27 October 2008 on Wichita Recordings & Limited to 5000 copies Only Worldwide. It came only thirty-three weeks after debut album Hold on Now, Youngster… and contains ten completely new tracks, none of which will be released as singles.

The album was recorded over an eleven-day recording session with John Goodmanson in his Seattle studio during June 2008.[

The title of the song “Between an Erupting Earth and an Exploding Sky” is a reference to a line from the novel Timequake by Kurt Vonnegut.

Yeah, it was never meant to be an album, they were only B-sides sessions, so they consider this an 'extended-EP' or 'mini-album', because they didn't approach it as they would a real album...although this is more cohesive than many normal albums...

Los Campesinos! don't seem to consider this a proper LP in their catalogue. On their blog they are speaking of writing their sophomore (2nd) album right now, their first being HON, Y... that being said, I absolutely love this album.

Great album, even though it's a bit repetitive. My fav is You'll Need Those Fingers for Crossing, amazing song.

this may be better than hold on now, youngster... definitely just as good, at least. did anyone else get the deluxe version? i'm so annoyed with the packaging... the booklet doesn't fit in the sleeve properly, and i'm afraid i'm going to break the plastic when i try to get the dvd out...
