Also, this is the first Holy Spooks record on which you can actually hear the Holy Spooks. Loving the back vocals!

Lonesome Wyatt's aim was always to make ol' time records for modern days. Halloween is Here perfectly fits his endeavor he'd set himself from the very first release. Of course this wanders into childish territories as it is a modern incarnation of those old Halloween records for children. Your lack of appreciation saddens me greatly.

I believe the Halloween record should have been released under a different alias. Some songs were tolerable with it in mind that it was just a fun record - although the cheese factor on many tracks pushed it into childish territories too often, and was not something I would ever want to hear again. This kind of tarnished the discography... I agree with Nostradanus, I think a break is needed at this point.

It's just a silly Halloween record. If you listen to it with that in mind, you'll love it.

Haven't had a chance to listen to it myself yet... My expectations are quite low, so I guess I'll be pleasantly surprised, at least if I believe your post. But heh, we'll see. I still think the guy needs to take a little break.

Really enjoying Halloween Is Here for what it is. I don't know why but I was expecting another Ghost Ballads type of record. It's fun to hear Lonesome almost have a little fun with this one.

Ghost Ballads is the most inspired and beautiful thing I've heard in a long time. The vinyl sounds amazing. The quietness of the songs just serves to create a more eerie mood. If it had the TPB aggression, it wouldn't be nearly as haunting.

It seems Wyatt is lacking inspiration lately... both this album and the last TPB disappointed me.

@Xaristotlex, if referring to my comment about TPB, I wasn't so much complaining, I was meaning that I think these songs seemed to blend too much together and lacked a certain variety that I feel they would have been given if they were performed by TPB as opposed to being a Lonesome Wyatt record. For example Boy with no Shadow comes across as a rather dull track, but if it was played with a little more aggression (or with the aesthetics of TPB's Abominations album) it would have been much more interesting. The album has some great tracks on it, but feel that more variety, or aggression would make the soft songs stand out more, and give life to the mediocre/duller tracks which are easily forgotten. I've given the album more time, but still feel it lands around 6.5/10.

Well, I love the new album. The only criticism I have is that some of the songs sound similar enough to blend together if you listen to it straight through (and this isn't going away even though I've been constantly listening to it), but this is a pretty minor issue since I think all of the songs are good. I don't get the TPB sound complaints either; the only song that sounds to me like it could have been TPB is October 1347, and that's just because it's slightly more aggressive than the others.

Ehhhhh... New songs would have been made much more interesting as TPB material in my opinion. A few decent tracks, most of it seems to just be there. Not a fan of this record. Hopefully it will change, but after 2 listens still feeling it's mediocre.

New song's is alright, I think it'll grow on me. The lyrics seem "better" this time around, not as simple as on Heartsick, at least on The Golden Rule.
