FINNISH NATURE-INSPIRED DARK-ACOUSTIC NEOFOLK

This music is inspired by the mysticism and
multi-dimensional beauty of Finnish nature.

Loitsu (The Spell) founded by r.kurkijávri between spring 2003 and summer 2006 at the island of Otava in Turku Archipelago is nature inspired melancholic but hopeful acoustic sound of one man.

“Loitsu has been one of my mirrors to see things in my subconscious and bring something from there to this place and time. Most of the music has never been recorded or released and sometimes there is only changing flow of notes or melody and not even song at all.” -artist describes.

Spring 2003 is seen as a time of Loitsu’s birth, because that was the time when first songs of Loitsu were actually recorded. Songs were called Hiljainen Polku (Silent Path), Tuulen Kuiskaus (Whisper of the Wind) and Talven Kutsu (Call of Winter). These three song were never released although third of them, Talven Kutsu, “leaked” to internet as it was uploaded to Finnish social music sharing website Mikseri.net and therefore is still regularly listened around the world 6 years after although it was intented to be deleted. During years 2004-2006 demo for Loitsu was made. Aamujen Auer (demo) (The Haze Of Mornings) included three songs which was and is still released free on internet. In fall 2008 Loitsu developed and growed pfysically, mentally and spiritually. Juha Kaartinen joined Loitsu and new material was created together. After 4 months there was 6 hours of audio waiting for arrangement. During these jamming-sessions Loitsu developed also quite a lot in musical way. The same spirit was there, but was deeper, wider and more complex.

    And like said, there is lot of new Loitsu songs, I just seems that I never cannot find right time and place to actually be still to record the songs as I would like to hear them. But I still want to do that very much, so I believe I will get in to that right spot some day.

    Thank you all for your support again for Loitsu. It is very appreciated. To answer to monsterburk, I would say yes, there will be a new release for Loitsu, but what more people ask about it, the more harder it seems to continue the project. I have been working lately with a different project, named, Lake of Cranes. We are about to release 14 minute song soon. Check Facebook or SoundCloud for Lake of Cranes in beginning of next month. I am also living away from Finland still for 1-2 years and I cannot work with Loitsu in any other country. I have plans of spending 6 months in Lapland in 2013 or 2014. That would be time for a new release. Time goes fast nowadays doesnt it? And when nobody pay you for making music, it is many times hard to find proper time for everything. To wolfschatten and wurzeltomte: The birds in Suopursu are cranes, not geese. Recorded in Koskeljärvi, Finland with shotgun mic in early hours.

    Hey you all. Thank you for your support again and I understand that it is frustrating when years go by and no new material is appearing. Still, I haven´t been lazy, but I´ve been traveling and working with another project of mine. In november 2011 is planned date for releasing full-lenght soundpainting called "mosaiikki." 17 minute teaser-track is already available here: http://rkurkijavri.blogspot.com/p/mosaiikki.html It is not Loitsu, no indeed, but I hope that it would bring joy some of you anyway. -r
