Biography

Lloyd Yates is is an extraordinary singer/songwriter from Jersey in the Channel Islands. His unique sound is compared to combination’s of various well known artists, but rarely pinned down. Beautifully crafted songs sung with heart and meaning are honed from his home in St Ouen and expanded upon by the rest of the band in the perfect setting of Cowshed Acoustics. Along with Mehdi Padidar (guitar) Scott (Badger) Keane (Bass) Alex Moody (Drums) Polo Olivier (percussion) and Kat Ince (Cello) this is The Lloyd Yates Band.

Filling local venues and wooing crowds everywhere they play, in the short space of a year LYB has become the one of the most talked about bands in Jersey and has already shared the stage with Roots & Folk legends & favorites such as, Xavier Ruud, Jeff Lang, Ash Grunwald, Pete Murray and Newton Faulkner. A packed show at the Log Jam Festival of Surf & Music, followed by Main Stage slots at Grassroots Eco Festival, and the bohemian “Vale Earth Festival” in neighboring Guernsey made for an amazing start to the summer before returning to Jersey to play the Channel Islands premier music event “Jersey Live” headliners this year included the Kooks, The Doves, Jack Penate, Dizzie Rascal and Frank Turner to mention just a few.

September also saw the release of the debut EP “Silent Moon (The Cowshed Sessions)” Into October with a mini tour of Cornwall starting with a visit to Zaffiros in Truro, Porthowan’s Blue Bar & the beautiful Falmouth venue Gylly’s Beach. This amazing mini tour saw the band join up with Cornwall act TeaHee and emerging local artist Tom Butel.
