Found them thru false tagging but who cares. I discoverred them and I'm glad. The first version of choke I heard is way different from the album release, though. I remember when they were on some online music vote contest and won..exposure is exposure. Thank god for the internet. ..and dude has some massive tree-trunk arms. Holy shit.
you know its been driving me crazy cause I just knew it wasn't APC, but people on the internet even posted lyrics for it under APC ....but all you have to do is a little research if your stumped and you know it can't be right....but think about it this way, at least Living Sydication gained another fan by limewire's faults...lol
didn't know they tag their music as someone else's (that's kind of cheap man) but I just downloaded the record from emusic and it's good, can't say that I like it as much as 10 Years or 32 Leaves, but it's slowly growing on me. much better than the crap that's on the radio 90% of the time.
If someone actually thought Choke was APC... geez...
Elvenstone38 you souldn't say that and listen to Linkin Park (they haven't nothing new in their nu-metal stuff and they even don't have respect for the creators such as Korn). Original doesn't mean necessarily sound like you want to or, even better, sound completely different from other bands. The White Stripes is quite an original band (it really doesn't matter if you like it or don't) and they sound like Led Zeppelin. Btw, T.a.t.u. isn't a original music type!!! I'm not judging your musical tastes just pointing out that your critic is very ambiguous (and mainly subjective) as most of all critics.
Fuck those who always say that this band 'sounds like these' or 'like that'. It doesn't matter, the criteria should be: 'do you like it or don't?' that is enough!!!
I like a lot this band, i really don't see how much similar are they to APC (maybe if you were talking about 10 years or 32 leaves i would understand).
Well good for you guys if it worked that way... I mean, I understand the 'playing by the rules, getting screwed thing', and even though there might be a lot of things I don't understand yet about the music industry/business (mainly because I detest the 'business' part of it), I still prefer listening to bands that sound original, even if they are influenced by others and have similarities. Most of the songs I heard reminded me of other bands, meaning it seemed like music already done before. But hey, this is just my opinion. If it worked for you guys, congrats on making it big.
My boyfriend went to download Serj Tankian's solo album, and he got this on the first try. He's not a huge fan, but I'm definitely liking what I hear. :)
I know people are really anal about tags being correct and everything, but with mistakes like this, I've got a new band I like. :D Woo!
i don't know how you guys could mistake "Choke" for something from APC... the tuning is definitely different from standard APC, not to mention his voice isn't like Maynard's... i try, but i can't hear the similarities. Just like when people compared 10 years to sounding exactly like APC, i couldn't hear that... totally different styles.
Elven, why would that be? If you heard CHOKE, and you thought it was cool, why would it matter who the band was who wrote and performed it? If you dug it, wouldn't you be interested in seeing if the rest of the music was good as well? Listen, no one likes false tagging, but it's a sad state of the industry when no matter what you do you fight uphill to get on the radio and into the hands of someone so people can be exposed to your music. When you play by the rules, you get screwed.. bottom line is that even the BEATLES bought 10,000 of their own records just to get signed. And they were the BEATLES! For better or for worse, this methodology of renaming tracks to the names of bands in our genre has worked well. Do we want to sound like APC? No. Will you hear influences from Maynard in the music we write? Yeah, you will because as a singer Maynard is definitely an inspiration and a genius.. To be in the same sentence with him is an honor.. one I hope our band lives up to.. Thanks..
