About this album
According to a MySpace interview that happened on May 17 at NRG Studios in North Hollywood, Linkin Park ‘s lead guitarist, Brad Delson mentioned that Living Things is an “amalgam of our first releases, which is the sound people know us best for, and that experimental stuff. ” Delson also mentioned that the band listened to a lot of folk music and early Americana during the recording process. According to him, the shift in sound on this release is because LP used “a lot of tools we had put aside that we felt comfortable using again.”
The band states that Living Things combines elements from their previous four studio albums to create a new sound. Living Things was chosen as the album’s title because of the numerous personal topics about people implemented on the album.
The album was leaked to the Internet on June 15, 2012 according to www.hasitleaked.com

@Cryhoc I'm glad you asked. It feels as if they've shifted, going back to their roots with an experimental synesthesia sound that's worked well to ingrain then and solidify their sound which they seem very comfortable with and are able to use and explore to generate different forms of music they may have been restricted by previously. Burn It Down is good example, it's a little on the generic side but its a fun track that was well received by mainstream listeners and appealed to them while they were able to make a song such as lies, greed and misery with the same core ideas in place but it allowed them to drive heavier, thus appealing to fans who felt alienated by the previous departure for the band. Though its not much of a departure since their really early stuff is much more similar to this new music than Hybrid Theory and Meteora which seem to be the more favourable albums. In conclusion, I thought the album was a perfect mixture of the sounds they've made over the years.
