Biography
Six Indonesian university students from different backgrounds came together in Malaysia and decided to form a band. Despite their differences in musical tastes, they found a common denominator in their love and passion for music. After going through a couple of changes in band names (Parallel Lines, Tenterhooks), they collectively decided to go with Lightcraft. They started out playing cover songs, but soon had the urge to try and write their own songs. Thus their first EP, The Modern Seasons, was born through endless days and nights of recording with limited time and funds.
Their debut album, Losing Northern Lights, followed two years later, and showcased an improvement in terms of maturity, melody, songwriting, and lyrics.
Lightcraft are currently writing new materials for a follow-up, although whether it will be an EP or a full-length album remains to be seen.
The original line-up consisted of Imam Mbudz, Fari, Patrick, Enrico, Indra, and Latief, but after their graduation from university, only Imam Mbudz remains in Malaysia whereas Fari, Enrico, Indra and Latief are currently in Indonesia, while Patrick is now in Portsmouth, England. Even with the distance that separates them, Lightcraft is still going strong, with frontman Imam actively gigging with a new line-up consisting of Efry (who joined before the band graduated to replace Indra, who left earlier than the rest), Izhar, and Chino.
Lightcraft has performed in Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore and Indonesia, and they are aiming to spread their wings further than ever before, with the hope of playing to a wider, global audience.
