Biography

Japan (1967 – present)

Les Rallizes Dénudés (裸のラリーズ, Hadaka no Rallizes) were one of the earliest and most influential / bands from Japan, and have existed off and on through four decades.
The group has notoriously shrouded itself in mystery, seldom touring and releasing very few records, usually with no discernible label. Their sound presages the later psychedelic experimental noise of 不失者 (Fushitsusha), High Rise and others in the current crop more than any other Japanese psychedelic group from the late 1960s.

They were formed in 1967, and the band was known for their ties to avant-garde theater groups (as typified by Shuji Terayama’s troupe) and leftist political groups, as well as for their feedback-drenched live shows and use of strobe lights and mirror balls onstage, which earned them comparisons to The Velvet Underground.

By 'Angel' from Great White Wonder I was actually referring to 'Dream' but now I see there's also another version on Volcanic Performance and Naked Diza Star. An odd gem and I wish they did more stuff like it

I know, but it's the same version, only unedited. I wonder if it was ever performed on any other shows or recorded in studio.

lol the versions of tose songs on blind baby are butchered by julian cope. you can find unedited versions in the full concert bootlegs. the cruel love date is 1983/10/10.

And 'Fantastique' although there are two not very similar versions.. the one on Cable Hogue is seriously one of my favorite Rallizes moments

I could be wrong but there seems to be a lot of one-off tunes scattered around. Maybe other performances weren't captured on tape or they could just be really different arrangements of old tunes but I can't really tell. Few ones I can think of are 'Ocean' from the early 1993 gig and the two versions of 'Angel' from Electric Pure Land and Great White Wonder.

Well, let's discuss something else. Does anyone know if there are any other recorded versions of (Tales of) Cruel Love / Aweful Eternitie except the one from Blind Baby Has Its Mothers Eyes?
