@nomoresongs: i like that interpretation. it certainly does have that feeling of a return to peopled, imperfect, painful but lived life

I've Shouted about this before, but not on a Leonard Cohen song, so , anybody who likes Leonard Cohen, Ralph McTell, Momus, Tom Paxton, Phil Ochs, Harry Chapin, Joni Mitchell and other great singer/songwriters are invited to listen to my NoMoreSongs Radio, which specialises in such music. Just click the picture of the silenced guitar and you should get there.

Yes, but what is the song about? The whole Ten New Songs album was written as a comeback from the horrors he experienced after literally seeing The Future (and I believe he DID). Is Boogie Street the final retreat from the heightened spirituality of so much of his work prior to The Future or is it a description of the actual sense of literally leaving behind the Divine to re-emerge into the fallible, fallacious world of pain and rejoin the human race?

I never failed to be amazed by Leonard Cohen and the mysticism and magic of his music.
