About this album

Leftism is the debut album by electronica musicians Leftfield, released in 1995. It was shortlisted for the 1995 Mercury Music Prize but lost-out to “Dummy” by Portishead . In a 1998 Q magazine poll, readers voted it the eightieth greatest album of all time, while in 2000 Q magazine placed it at number 34 in its list of the 100 Greatest British Albums Ever.

    Going back to this and R&S, this is sounding a bit dated now. Rhythm & Stealth still sounds like it could have been made yesterday, and its why its the one I go back to now. (NB I wrote this before reading any of the comments below)

    the fact that this is so dated is absolutely wonderful, i dont want to listen to electronic music from 1995 that sounds 'new and exciting today'. this is wonderful because it absolutely sounds like it's from the mid-90's. the synth and whirly drums in it are wonderfully camp.
