This is one of the first psychedelic tracks to make use of innovative recording techniques. It uses exotic instruments, eerie vocals and recordings played backwards, and the resulting mix helped inspire Brian Wilson and others of the California sound. Lee Mallory is a gifted singer who plays the guitar and brings out the special meaning of this Ochs-Gibson folk song like noone else. The first great recording by producer Curt Boettcher. Lee and Curt went on to help form The Millennium, Sagittarius and other groups. A fantastic, neglected record, with a great visionary flip side "Many Are the Times."
