What’s “Le Chauffeur”? A double-bass, an accordion, a clarinet and a bass clarinet, a trumpet, a bugle, a tuba, a saxophone, a guitar, percussions and songs. Six musicians-composers, six melody craftsmen influenced by a wide variety of horizons and who combine lilting musette, oriental groove improvisation, Balkan rhythms and ethno-jazz, add a pinch of poetry and the result turns into a rich and colorful musical mix that’s alcohol strong, very strong! More than a musical group, it’s rather a copper still which distills cultures…

Since its foundation in 1999, journeys and meetings have constantly nourished the “Chauffeur’s” universe. Whether in Europe or on the road across the Sahara, it’s always the discovery of new sounds and gifted artists that enriches their creation. Their music is like a bridge to different worlds, a passport that makes it possible to cross cultural borders. With its double repertoire “Le Chauffeur” may awaken the spirit of celebration and, in the following moment, evoke the melancholy of the Touareg desert blues. Wherever they arrive, what invariably moves them is the wish to share, no matter whether it is the sharing of happiness, musical emotions or of a bit of tenderness…

Very engaging and energetic on stage, great sense of humor, and a bright example of a well functioning independent band. Thank you for an enjoyable evening!
