Spanning ballad & samba, string-jazz & acoustic fusion, vocal & instrumental, this rare mix of acoustic guitars, violin, voice, reeds & bass defined the creative collage of the “new acoustic movement” of the late 70s.

One newspaper in their New England base called the music of their debut LP East River Consort “lush meanderings with a steely counterpoint and classical dignity…Rule-breaking, category-denying music with intriguing textures, immersed in the fusion of east & west.”

In Undiscovered Country, the 80s reunion of the founding trio of Laurasia, guitar, violin and synthesizer instrumentals blended the meditative and upbeat, the lush and sparse - a reflection of exposure to the “downtown scene” of New York City during the mid-80’s. Undisco mixed acoustic and electric sounds in a showcase of John Houshmand’s offbeat compositions and the band’s quirky arrangements and solos. Witty, jazzy, seductive, Eastern and experimental.

Unavailable since the early 80’s, these expanded recordings now include previously unreleased live recordings and studio sketches, and were remixed & remastered for CD.
