one of my 3 or 4 or 5 favorite songs in the world. spotless, mind-bending brilliance and warmth and creepiness and feeling.

I love this version more than the 5th Demension, This is more genuine, haunting, serious instead of light and flirty as Marilyn McCoo sings it....

"beyond her singing ability...???" Wow. This is what 'American Idol'-ization has done to the younger generations's ability to appreciate ORIGINAL singer-songwriters. Laura Nyro's voice--singing her own composition, with no computer enhancement--is beautiful.

Yeah, The Fifth Dimension had a number one with this, and they made it slightly more upbeat and dare I say it commercial. But like they say you can't beat the original and the original artists own interpretation of their own song.

I think you get a whole other dimension of expression from female singer songwriters that is frankly lacking in male equivalents. Think Joni, think Carole King, even Kate Bush.

Yes! I'm hearing a live version this time. One of the few times I'm going to thank whoever uploaded the non-album version. :-P
