Lacy James is a singer/songwriter, dancer and choreographer based in the United States. Her music has been compared to that of artists such as Kate Bush, Tori Amos, Sinead O’Connor, Enya, Danielle Dax, Peter Gabriel, Siouxsie and the Banshees, and many others.

Lacy produced her debut CD Lovefeast with Jim Gallagher at the Gamble-Huff and Kajem/Victory studios in Philadelphia. The basic tracks were enhanced by many wonderful guest musicians. In “Song of Songs”, Old Testament love poetry drifts through a heavenly arrangement of Arabic and Indian drums, flute and keyboards. “Silverback”, based on the life of gorilla researcher Dian Fossey, blends thundering drums and African percussion with ethereal sounds from a variety of sources: guitars, bass, sythesizers and the Rwandan gorillas themselves — courtesy of reknowned environmental recordist Bernie Krause.

Lovefeast was released in April, 1992 to positive reviews from the Philadelphia City Paper, the Philadelphia Daily News and other print media as well as from Internet websites such as Musical Discoveries. The track White Lion was highlighted by as its Featured Alternative Song in 1999, and again as its Featured Adult Alternative Song in 2001.

After the release of Lovefeast Lacy moved from Philadelphia to New York City where she danced for a number of companies and formed her own troupe Mereminne Dancers. She has composed music and sound scores for some of her choreography and most recently has returned to songwriting, releasing her second full-length album Circles of Swallows on February 12, 2013.

So wonderful that Lacy has a new album after all this time! And a great one at that. I'm going to the CD release party on Sunday :)
