Liphlich are a visual-kei band formed in 2007 whose music spans a wide range of genres that are not often staples in this musical scene, making them one of the most experimental groups in visual-kei. The band's original name was Gourdie, but in 2008 they changed it to "Liphlich." Although they have been together for a comparatively long time (many visual-kei bands do not last for much longer than a year), they did not receive much attention from the scene's Western fanbase due to the difficulty of acquiring their cds from their unsigned period. In 2010, the band began to ramp up their productivity after being signed to the Marder Suitcase record label. Prior to finding a label, the band released one single entitled "リフリッチがやって来 る／グルグル自慰行為" and their first album "SOMETHING WICKED COMES HERE." Since their signing, they have produced cds at a much quicker pace and even put out a music video featuring the acting talents of Mihiro.
In 2012, it was announced that the second press of their first album would be released, renamed "SOMETHING WICKED COMES HERE AGAINST YOU." Additionally, it was announced that their first guitarist, Akito, would be leaving the band in April of the same year due to a disagreement in the band's musical direction. He was later replaced by 新井崇之 (Takayuki Arai) in the following summer.
