When Manic Street Preachers asked Kylie Minogue to sing for their song “Little Baby Nothing” in 1991, Minogue was unable to duet because of her PWL contract at the time. Six years later, Minogue approached with a set of lyrics, guitarist, James Dean Bradfield of Manic Street Preachers who then worked with Minogue for “Some Kind of Bliss”, with Manic Street Preachers’ producer Dave Eringa. Sean Moore, drummer of Manic Street Preachers also co-wrote the song. “Some Kind of Bliss” was released as the lead single in 1997 for the album, “Impossible Princess”. The single, compared to her previous and subsequent work is not her highest ranking, reaching 22 in the U.K. charts and 27 in Minogue’s homeland, Australia. Sonically, the song sounds very much like Manic Street Preachers’ “Everything Must Go” album, with a more lighter upbeat poppy edge and sweet vocal work by Minogue.
