Kreng is a Belgium based project formed by Pepijn Caudron. Started out as a strictly sample-based project, incorporating sounds from various sources: dark jazz, new electronic generated sounds, classical modernism and vintage geographical recordings. The project became a very cinematic, theatrical device that has been used by various directors.   • All that, and of course it does this on the theme of loss, but through the experience of loss instead of as a reflection on the nature of loss itself. Maybe.
  • The Summoner is probably the only Kreng album that, at least to me, made me feel like something was behind it besides desperation (not necessarily in a bad way). Very interesting work.

  • I didn't mind the long silences in Works for Abatoir Fermé, but in The Summoner, there is so much silence, and it makes me feel a bit cheated. When the songs come alive so suddenly, I am like "Oh, was I listening to music?" I think the album is great, You could say I love it, but still, more music packed into it would have been more to my liking :)
