According to the Computer Love Songfacts, the subject matter of this song, looking for romance via the computer, was a remarkable prediction of the future as it was written many years before online dating. In the early 1980s computers were large, impersonal, incommunicative things and not many could have foreseen their use as a vehicle for communicating with others.

Kraftwerk - Computer Love Lyrics

  • One of my all time faves. Perfectly captures that bittersweet, yearning technological feeling... those nights where the monitor is the only light source, and you're just staring into space, wondering whether you should go to bed or keep staying up in case you make contact with another cyber being. Humans are really way too obsessed with technology - it's going to fuck us up majorly! Fuck Coldplay, they don't have shit on Kraftwerk and never will. And whoever said there's a "subtle African touch" - no, there isn't, and that statement's basically meaningless anyway since Africa consists of many different countries and cultures, all with their own unique music.
  • There is a girl I met online who I have crush on right now. :)
  • Shame on you Kraftwerk, rip off Coldplay like that...
  • what's the 'subtle african touch'?
  • such an incredible melody, yeah
  • Maybe the best melody ever! [2]
  • I just wasted some of my life reading all the shout comments on to see if there were any that pre-date Talk. Apparently no. This entire shoutbox is just about Coldplay vs Kraftwerk really. Forgot Talk was that old.
  • Maybe the best melody ever!
  • I love that subtle African touch to this song.
  • my favorite Kraftwerk song :)
