So another Brighton Live festival draws to a close. Stupidly left it to the weekend 'til I saw anything, hence pubs were packed. Failed to see anything at the Pavilion Tavern due to it being one in/one out by the time I got there. Satisfied myself with the Cubar's open mike night on Wednesday (or was it Tuesday?) and went to see my old Maidstone friends Kovak at Club Kovak at the Prince Albert. It was absolutely heaving there, and I stupidly overdressed so i stood and sweated and trod on lots of people's feet. The support band, a band with a ridiculously long name which i can't be bothered to look up, I've seen before at a private party. They play country and western, and are well, a bit silly. Lots of fun though, plus they cover Banging in the Nails, always a good sing along, and gets the punters going. Kovak had come along a long way since I last checked them many years ago at the Hobgoblin, where they concentrated mainly on powerballads. …
