Biography

There are at least 4 bands called Kosmos.

1.) Canadian progressive spacerock band, featuring:
Vincent Peake - Bass (Grim Skunk )
Michel “Away” Langevin - Drums & Octapad (Voivod )
Alex Crow - Keyboards & Programming (Tricky Woo )
JetPhil - Guitars (Paradise )
They released the album Kosmos on The End Records in 2007.

2.) “KOSMOS is a Psychedelic-folk-progressive group from Turku, Finland. Their main influences come from folk, progressive and psychedelic rock of the early seventies. The lyrics, sung by a female singer, are in Finnish, but English translations are also included in their albums. Some of the instruments used are: Mellotron, acoustic guitar, piano, flute and violin.

The songs of KOSMOS rely on strong atmosphere and interesting lyrics. According to Olli Valtonen, the main lyric writer, the general idea in the lyrics is “the other reality” (mainly the cosmic and mystic one).

The psychedelic side of KOSMOS is a bit more pronounced on the second album “Polku” (2007). Some new instruments such as bassoon, bombarde and theremin have been introduced.
In 2009 they have released their third album - “Vieraan Taivaan Alla”

3.) Jimi Tenor & Mika Vainio (half of Pan Sonic) collaboration project.

5.) Japanese one-man death metal/ hardcore/ crossover band in the vein of Bathory.

6.) French black metal project from Drôme.

7.) Kosmos is a one-track side project of German band Scooter. With Mary K (vocals), they released a single, called “Codo / The Mission”
