    1. How did you get into 29? Lamb of God

It was a long time ago when I first started listening to "extreme metal". I think a friend recommended them.

    2. What was the first song you ever heard by 22? Kalmah

I think it was a song off The Black Waltz, but I didn't like it. I didn't start liking them until I heard Swamplord way later.

    3. What’s your favorite lyric by 33? Emperor

Probably those from the song With Strength I Burn

    4. What is your favorite album by 49? Helheim

Hard one, but I'm probably going to have to go with Av Norrøn Ætt, but the two previous ones are excellent as well

    5. How many albums by 13 do you have? Mörk Gryning

    All the full-lengths <3

    6. What is your favorite song by 50? Falkenbach

Well I have to say Heathen Foray but there are alot of underrated Falkenbach songs as well.

    7. Is there a song by 39 that makes you sad? Gorgoroth

Hardly. Gorgoroth aren't known for having sappy songs, I'll tell you that.

    8. What is your favorite album by 15? Dismember

Sun 17 May – Paganfest II

Damn, what a great show that was. Not only were all the bands top-notch, but the turnover was probably the most efficient I've seen. Swashbuckle hit the stage right on time at 7:00, did their 30 minutes, and Blackguard's set started at 7:42. I stopped paying attention to the start and end times after that, mainly because I never had a chance to wonder how long it had been taking.

The reason I went was to see Korpiklaani and Moonsorrow - when I saw the lineup for the first time I almost cried, I was so happy that two of my favorite bands from halfway around the world were not only coming to town for the first time, but together - but I was also looking forward to Primordial since I'd read good things about their live performance. Still, the first two bands were interesting enough to show up on time for.

Swashbuckle were better than I expected. I had checked out some of their stuff on YouTube, and while the whole pirate-metal thing was novel, I didn't look much past that. …

After a long doze, we got out of our tents, secured food, restocked on water, lazed around chatting for a few hours, before heading off to check out the clothing vendors at the festival site, as none of the bands we wanted to see started before 15:00. Whilst Greg was unable to find a suitable new belt, I managed to track down a couple of Burzum T shirts (always worth doing in person due to the quantities of text on the back, which online vendors are naturally unwilling to explain to you, but which need assessing), and Duncan found the Operation Mindcrime T shirt.

Having briefly checked out their myspace page, I have to say that out of Alestorm's material, I only liked Captain Morgan's Revenge. I was very impressed with what I saw of their set (between a half and two-thirds of it): they get top marks for having keyboard-guitar duels, the crowd interaction made a lot of what was musically uninspiring in the studio good fun live Set Sail and Conquer. …

  • Music to listen to when you're drinking

    6 May 2007, 20:16 by SaturnineDiva

    a.k.a playlist for the weekend

    1. Korpiklaani - Happy Little Boozer, Beer Beer

    2. Finntroll - Trollhammaren, Rivfader

    3. Eläkeläiset - Ranttalihumppa, Jenkkapolkkahumppa, Humppaa tai kuole

    4. Guns N' Roses - Paradise City, You Could Be Mine

    5. Hurriganes - Do You Wanna Dance

    6. Skid Row - Youth Gone Wild

    7. WASP - I Wanna Be Somebody

    8. Iron Maiden - The Trooper

    9. Pain - Shut Your Mouth

    10. Rammstein - Du hast, Ich will

...and many other songs that these bands have published.

For some reason, this the music that suits my drinking habits. Folk metal, humppa, power metal and 1980's hair metal seem to make a nice combo with having good time on a Friday (or any other) night.
