Korea Girl

Korea Girl was an American indie rock band from San Jose, California. The band’s members included Elizabeth Yi (voice and guitar), Tobin Mori (guitars, voice, and keyboard), Summer (electric bass guitar) and Marc Duarte (drum set). Che Chou later joined the band temporarily, but does not appear on any of the group’s recordings. Scott Landucci later replaced Duarte on drums. Mori and Chou currently play in Ee.

The group was formed in January 1996 and broke up in 1999 due to conflicts between the two singers. They released one CD (Korea Girl, 1997; rereleased in 1999 with additional bonus tracks) and one 7” (Reunion, 1998) on Asian Man Records, and also appear on various Asian Man compilation CDs as well as a video/DVD.

Korea Girl’s music was generally melodic and understated, featuring both male and female vocals and using clean (undistorted) guitars in the manner of such earlier indie rock groups as Blake Babies.

This band wrote the soundtrack to growing up in the early 90s in the midwest. Laidback rhythms, soft spoken yet punctuating vocals. I agree with below. so damn good and yet so unknown. Atomic Skies is my standout fav, but then again, so are all their it

Such a great band! It's a shame how little known they are though. Many bands have surfaced since their debut that sound similar but nowhere near as good and they're acclaimed. tis a shame tis a shame. My favorites: under the sun, atomic skies, serpentine, Wile E., and lil bunch, and oh damn it I enjoy them all pretty much.
