Los Angeles, United States (1978 – present)

Patrik Mata formed the legendary American band Kommunity FK in Los Angeles in 1978.
Mata is the sole founding visionary, composer, lyricist, musical arranger, vocalist/guitarist, and style chameleon.

When Kommunity FK was first formed by Mata there was no such thing as Gothic music, industrial music and any other terms known by the music scene of today. His vision was new and his creation was raw. First reviews of Kommunity FK were headlined with Patrik’s quotes such as “Any noise that fits…”. Kommunity FK’s music was so artistic, so strong, so dark, yet so inspiring that the only term that even came around through the press to classify Mata’s band and music was “gloom & doom” and “deathrock”. Mata and Kommunity FK was heavily inspired by Surrealist artists the likes of Dali, Jean Cocteau, and David Bowie.

Within one year of live performances (all booked and promoted by Mata himself) Kommunity FK had attracted world wide attention as well as a record label. Kommunity FK has performed with:
Killing Joke
Alien Sex Fiend
The Jesus and Mary Chain
Sex Gang Children
Christian Death & Shadow Project
Peter Murphy
Nina Hagen
Toys Dolls
Lords Of The New Church
Modern English
Gun Club
Nick Cave
Gene Loves Jezebel
Flesh For Lulu
45 Grave
Lydia Lunch
The Virgin Prunes
Xmal Deutschland
Clan of Xymox
and more legendary bands.

"lmao, did he really write the bio himself" wouldn't be surprised... Mata has a massive ego. Go read any interview with him and he will pretty much talk talk about himself and his band as if they're the sole contributors to deathrock. Regardless KFK is still my favorite band :D

Could this autobiography be any less self serving and egotistical on the part of Mata? Hope he doesn't pat himself too hard on the back.

personally... he sounds to much like David Bowie to have been the BIG DEATHROCK STAPLE like Christian Death was with Only Theatre Of Pain. And they weren't experimental enough with their instrumentals like Rozz Williams' Christian Death. Other than that... it's good stuff... lil corny I think particularly the voice for it's genre... but it's still good and groundbreaking for the time it came out.
