Biography

More than one artist is called Klank.

1.
Splicing the mosh pit and the dance floor, this wrecking machine originally from New York known as KLANK released their debut album “Still Suffering” on the Seattle-based Tooth & Nail Records in 1996. Breaking musical boundaries with a sound described as ‘dancy, aggressive, electronically infused groove’, KLANK spent 18 weeks on the CMJ Top 40 charts and their monster single “Downside” which was added to over 170 radio stations nationwide. KLANK gained an immense amount of attention and notoriety while forming a strong, loyal fan base with their constant touring and growing reputation for intense live shows.

KLANK then made their mark once again with their sophomore release “Numb” which included the crushing single “Blind” which again made it into the top 40 on the CMJ charts. A video was also filmed for “Blind” which become a regular fixture on the Much Music channel.

Following Numb, KLANK appeared on several compilations which included their version of “I’ll Wait” to the “Running with the Devil - a Tribute to Van Halen ” release.

KLANK consists of Daren “Klank” Diolosa (Circle Of Dust) on vocals, guitars, Pat Servedio on guitar, keys, programming and production, and Eric Wilkins on drums. When asked to summarize KLANK’s music and lyrical direction, Diolosa has explained that

Sorry... 96 I mean. Though I think I remember that Demolision Rex Comp I heard the demo version of Animosity was in 94-95?

back in 94 I was living way out in rural Wisconsin and the only music I knew was whatever was played on the radio. Hearing Klank was kinda my first time being exposed to real subgenre industrial music... that and Argyle Park. And me growing up in a Christian home there was NO way of discovering bands like NIN or shit like that. I really owe a lot of where my musical journey has lead me to to Mr Klank. Whether or not anyone thinks thats cool or not but hearing Animosity on a CD listening station in a Christian bookstore in Milwaukee Wisconsin... one of the most important musical turning points of my life. Hearing those badass electronic sounds for the first time married to those gutsy guitar tones... Obviously things are different now. I'm in one of the most important cities for industrial music (home of wax trax) Chicago, but that Still Suffering album still more than cuts the mustard and I'm listening to it right now and loving it.

Please check out our latest KLANK cd Urban Warfare. You can listen to it at: http://music.klanknation.com/. It is by FAR our best cd yet and even features a guest appearance by DUg Pinnick of King's X. It has all the energy, aggression and passion as Still Suffering, but taken to a different level. It should be up on here in the next few weeks too! THANK YOU for all the support!

I can't believe it's been almost 14 years now since Still Suffering was released. That album changed my life, quite literally. Methinks I need to listen to it more often these days.
