27 Sep 2007, 22:03 by nehemiah553Part two of my journal featuring my favourite album from each of the last ten years. On we go with 2004...
2004 - Hope of the States - The Lost Riots
The moment I started this journal, I knew exactly what would feature under 2004. This is perhaps my favourite album of all time.
It's an old cliche, but this album literally changed my life. It opened my ears, to use another cliche, to a whole new approach to 'indie' music as it is dubbed. This was something entirely different.
Opener The Black Amnesias send shivers down my spine, stands the hairs on the back of my neck on end, blows me away. While the band was touring Left, I missed the days when they used to open with this track. I always like things that start with a bang and this is one of the biggest bangs there is... albeit not literally, and not in volume, but in sheer magnitude.
"Come on people, keep yr friends close, yr enemies won't matter in the end," Sam Herlihy repeats in Enemies/Friends. …
28 Apr 2007, 12:23 by anneskiesHeres a few albums im addicted to right now that have recently come out.
This is an amazing album!! A great follow up to their self tittled first album. The songs I love from it: She's All I Got, She's My Brother, and Those Eyes
I cant wait for their gig on June 1st at the forum.
Because of the Times
I fell in love with these guys last year when I saw them play as Pearl Jam's support aartist. The new album is great its not as bluesy/country sounding as the previous ones. Its very rockin! Standout songs are: On Call, Black Thumbnail and Ragoo. and as an added bonus the band members are mega hot! Am I right Nikki?
In The Midst Of This
Their album came out a week ago, and was JJJ's feature album the other week. I love these guys! Thier songs keep getting stuck in my head. Standout tracks are Crazy, Spaces in Between, and I only Wanna Love ya.
May is going to be full of gigs, im seeing one every week, lol. Starting with Silverchair on the 1st and ending with Cold War Kids on the 30th. …

14 Apr 2007, 21:13 by loveyourbuttons(My friend and I wrote this as a review for our school paper)
It was less than a year ago that we, two sunburned and ecstatically crazed fans donning clothes caked with sweat and dirt and brandishing poster-boards that read “I love Matthew,” found ourselves at the pinnacle of wannabe groupiedom. Kings of Leon, the objects of our undying admiration, were playing at the Austin City Limits Music Festival 2006, much to our enthusiasm.
After mounting ourselves on friends’ shoulders, flailing our signs about in the air, making many appearances on the jumbo-screens and professing our love for all in the crowded audience to hear, our thirst for acknowledgment from the band was not quite quenched. When we caught sight of the band’s bus outside of the VIP area, we pursued the slow moving van down Barton Springs Road, waving our signs and screaming “Matthew, we love you!” The band chortled at our desperate attempts to get them to pull over, and rewarded us with a rolled down window, a wave, an “I love you, too,” and a near hit-and-run.

4 new albums, and they're great.
Here is my short review:
Maxïmo Park - Our Earthly Pleasures
How dare you, Paul Smith? You took a lot of my time listening to every single line of the great Songs from the two CDs released before the new masterpiece of my favourite ensemble from Newcastle.
The new album is awesome. A typical piece of Maxïmo Park, I'd say. The keyboard, Paul's voice and his abilities in songwriting create a noise in my head which I'd like never to go away. I can't wait to see those guys live tomorrow! Yay!
My favourite tracks so far: Nosebleed, Our Velocity and A Fortnight's Time.
A Weekend In the City
I've never been a huge fan of Bloc Party, at least not as much as they deserve. The new album changed it. There are so many great songs on it that I can't help listening to it as much as possible. So far, I really like I Still Remember and The Prayer. This is night music... so perfect for a ride trough the darkness outside. Keep your headphones in the ears and pull up volume!
