So much random improv wankery, but it works really well when listening to the album as a whole, leading brilliantly into the final track.

I love Moonchild to bits. All 12:16 of it.

Agreed with bgk90, got the 40th anniversary edition and I'm not happy that they cut out three minutes of the song (yeah, I know the full version is included as a bonus track, but still), it's perfect as it is in its12 minutes glory.

If you think this is boring or too long, you better not listen King Crimson [3]

is its story related to Aleister Crowley's Moonchild?

It's got nothing to do with the fact that it's 12 minutes long; it's just a boring song. The first two and a half minutes are great though.

That has to be the longest song closer I've ever heard.

Screw the 9 minute version, 12 minutes is what they put out and 12 minutes is what it should be!

lovely track, and the free improv part is essential to clear the air of the heaviness before the title song.

this is fine to listen to, but i feel like they just threw this in to fill up space on the vinyl

Doesn't Christina Ricci do a tapdance to this on Buffalo '66? Sure I've heard it before

I listened to it all. It's quite interesting if you play it real loud. Just make sure to turn it down for when TCOTCK comes on ._. I learned that the hard way

Ya know the interesting thing about the "free improv" part is that Fripp is really playing in A minor most of the time. He just makes use of all the half steps and stuff to give it a really dissonant sound. But all of it (aside from a few bits of wankery here and there, such as those muted sweeps) is still diatonic. Good stuff.
