Biography

King Cobb Steelie are a Canadian indie rock group, whose music fuses elements of punk, funk, jazz and dance. They formed in 1991 in Guelph, Ontario.

The core of the band consists of singer/songwriter Kevan Byrne and bassist Kevin Lynn. A variety of other collaborators, including Al Okada, Mike Armstrong, Don Pyle and Michelle McAdorey, have contributed to individual albums.

In 1996, the band also toured jazz festivals in Canada with the fusion project Junior Relaxer, a name which also served as the title of a subsequent KCS album.

The band’s most successful single was 1997’s “Rational”, from the album Junior Relaxer.

I saw these guys the first time I ever took LSD back in 1996... not sure why I neglected to get into them more all these year. What a great sound they have.

I'm going to put a vote in for Jackasshole or Swiss Crumb. Thanks for the Zunior tip - nice website.

I'd have to say the first three albums are by far the best work they've done. I'm partial to the first album : KCS self-titled. It's a little more rock than the rest of their catalogue.

?? for fans: I've heard and don't like Mayday, but love Junior Relaxer. Which of the older albums are worth tracking down?

rational has to be one of the best songs ever. BTW i recall a radio interview on cfny a few years back, they said it's a myth they were from Guelph, really just Toronto.
