Biography

The Aarhus-based quintet King’s Light Infantry is current with the critically acclaimed EP “Crops” released on vinyl and download by Pad & Pen, a Copenhagen-based indie company. The EP consists of six tracks offering a preview of the original, melodic and titillating universe the band is developing with a heavy-handed conviction. The Infantry creates music with a great breadth of sound with a wide array of references from Pink Floyd to Animal Collective, fortified with a focus on dynamic development and auditory authenticity as heard in the music of e. g. Arcade Fire, Calexico, and Wolf Parade. It is essential to the members of the band to be stylistically open-minded and allow the collective musical potential to be expressed freely; in this way the band avoids remaining in the shadow of their idols. The band strives to make sure that the music will remain the focal point, that it is relevant and immediate, and that it is allowed to place demands on the audience as well as the band itself. In 2010 King’s Light Infantry expanded its portfolio with a concert at Spot Festival in Aarhus, P3-rotation with the single “Home”, Submarine Session with the online magazine Third Ear, a spot in the line-up at the after-parties of Kashmir’s autumn tour, as well as a contract with the booking agency Hide & Seek. The band is also in full swing with the recording of new material for the upcoming debut album due to be released in the summer 2011, as well as the planning of a spring tour, festivals and more.
